FAQs: Overview
What is Functional Medicine?
Functional Medicine, rather than targeting individual symptoms, focuses on the optimal functioning of the entire body and its organs. It addresses the underlying causes of disease, using a systems-oriented approach in partnership with understanding the conditions and history in which the disease manifested. Genetic, environmental and lifestyle factors all have a direct influence of long-term health and chronic health issues. Learn more…
How long does it take to get results?
Results vary by each person. Some people feel dramatic improvement within the first 3 months, others may take longer. Your body didn’t fail overnight. Years of various stressors takes its toll, and it takes a proper amount of time to restore and balance your body systems. The timeline of treatment depends on:
The severity of your symptoms
How long symptoms have been present
How quickly your body responds to the treatment plan
Functional medicine demands lifestyle and behavior modifications, which can be difficult for most. Functional medicine is for individuals who want to take control of their health and well being for the long term and are willing to make the recommended changes.
Will I have to take recommended supplements forever?
No. Supplements are designed to be SUPPLEMENTAL to your program to help ensure the best possible outcomes. Lifestyle modifications are paramount in terms of progression. As you progress through the program and solidify dietary and lifestyle changes, most supplements may no longer be necessary. We are a firm believer in obtaining your nutrients through food first, yet poor soil/food quality and increased nutrient needs are always considered.
